Can Domestic Violence (ever) be Right? Can it ever be Virtuous or Righteous? Can Domestic Violence Ever Become the Right Think To Do?

THIS IS A DRAFT POST -- A WORKING POST -- PLEASE DO NOT QUOTE, PRINT, COPY or Distribute.

Does having a RIGHT to do something -- make it the Right things to do?

Question: "Domestic Violence" and Right and Righteous and Virtuous and/or Justified?

"Domestic violence is never considered right, righteous, virtuous, or justified in modern society or under the law. Legally, it is a recognized crime, such as under federal laws like the Violence Against Women Act, and is treated as an act of power and control.  The Legal Reality Criminal Act: Domestic abuse can be classified as a misdemeanor or a felony depending on the severity of the offense and history of violence.  Federal Law: Under VAWA, crossing state or tribal boundaries to commit domestic injury or violate protection orders is a federal crime (Source)."

  How can something be RIGHTIOUS?

"Something is righteous when it aligns perfectly with moral perfection, justice, and truth. Depending on your framework, it can be defined in a few distinct ways: Moral & Ethical Alignment: An action or concept is righteous if it upholds fairness, honesty, and the greater good without malice or hidden motives. Through Faith and Grace: In many religious traditions, such as Christianity, humans cannot make themselves perfectly righteous on their own. Instead, righteousness is often viewed as a gift of grace or a restored relationship with the divine. Living an Upright Life: In a practical sense, you pursue righteousness daily by acting justly, showing mercy, and living with integrity (Source)."

  How can something be VIRTUOUS?

"Something is virtuous when it demonstrates high moral standards, righteousness, and a disposition to do what is right. In philosophy and psychology, it is typically achieved by consistently practicing positive moral traits, acting from good intentions, and cultivating balance in one's life.

Concepts that make something virtuous include:

The Doctrine of the Mean:  Rooted in Aristotelian philosophy, virtue is often the balance between two extremes.  For example, courage is the virtuous middle ground between cowardice (too little) and rashness (too much).

Practical Wisdom: Known as phronesis, this involves navigating complex situations by accurately assessing what needs to be done and adjusting your actions with excellence.

Moral Character: Virtues aren't just one-off actions; they are internal dispositions. Qualities like honesty, compassion, integrity, and self-control become integrated into your daily habits. (Source)"
